I was extremely disappointed with the performance of this product when making a transfer from XP to Windows 7. But changing to the newer OS left out of programs unmoved to the new machine. I was left with hours of work. One person found this helpful. I was a bit unimpressed this time. I had used PCmover previously with great success. I had to combine it with MS easydatatransfer to get everything I needed.
It took over 24 straight hours for PCmover to copy files to my new laptop; in the end, the only usable programs were ones I could have downloaded in a few minutes on my own e. Maybe these details were spelled out somewhere, but I didn't see them.
I would suggest that potential buyers save their money and transfer their programs and files without purchasing this software. I wish I had. Thorough and complete. While any migration or changeover is time consuming this allowed me to take a SOHO user from an 10 year Old XP system to their brand new system in only 7 hours. Your mileage may vary,but when you consider the alternative for an end user to copy by hand and then place by hand and you have already cut your time in half. And being nondestructive on the old system was very important.
For this particular case emails from the original hard drive HAD to be kept archived for evidence on a lawsuit for this person's business. At the same time they needed to be accessible from time to time.

This product doesn't work as well as advertised - some of the applications that were transferred to the new PC simply do not work - registry values were fouled up, popups about missing dll files were experienced, etc. I was hoping to avoid this. I later found out that had I gotten the PC mover cable the process would have been cut in half.
Also technical support is very good, I did have one minor problem but the TA support quickly got me back on track. Overall I would recommend this product. I wish I had heeded the other 1 star reviews on this product, but ignored them, downloaded the product, installed per instructions on both computers, disabled my firewall, and attempted to run the product.
I immediately got an Error 49, no explanation, but a phone number to call for support. I called the number, after being on hold for several minutes, was answered by an impatient fellow.
